Because of recent updates to the OS, it is possible to print from your iPhone or iPad directly without having to first transfer your document to a computer, but only to certain Airport printers. There are apps that will let you print to other brands, and that’s fine for home use where you likely have only one printer. But what about a business environment that has a variety of printers from different manufacturers – some of which don’t even have a print app available? The xPrintServer from Lantronix makes it possible to print from your iOS device to any networked printer, regardless of brand and without special apps. Simply connect the small iPhone-sized device to your network via an Ethernet cable, and the xPrintServer will find all networked printers, even older models. Within a few moments of connection, you’ll be able to print from any iPhone or iPad to any printer on your network, without having to load up a bunch of apps. The xPrintServer is $149.95 and is available for pre-order now, with shipping expected in January 2012.

Are you a retro computer geek (with big wrists)? Perhaps the Click Keypad Watch available from Watchismo is for you. Based on a numeric keypad, blinking lights on the number keys are capable of indicating both the time and date.
It’s 40mm x 46mm x 10.5mm (1.6′ x 1.8″ x .4″) so not the most discrete watch around. Strangely enough it’s not a wrist based calculator as well.
Available in black, grey, ivory and blue from Watchismo for $89.99

If you constantly switch between your tablet computer and paper, you’d probably like a stylus/pen combination. Scott Wilson + MINIMAL have a Kickstarter project to fund the LunaTik Touch Pen combination stylus and rollerball pen. You can see from the illustration, the pen point deploys through the stylus point. You can switch from a tablet computer to paper with just a click to extend/retract the pen. You don’t even have to change your grip on the pen. It will be available in plastic in a range of colors or in anodized aluminum (shown). There’s also an limited-edition anniversary version for those who pledge $500 or more. Pledge at least $30 and you’ll receive a couple of plastic LunaTik pens; $30 or more elevates you to the metal bodies. Be prepared to also include $20 to $50 shipping (depending on pledge level) if you’re outside the US.

When it comes to Android powered smartphones, it seems like there is a new phone released every month or so. At this point, there isn’t a lot that can be added to a smartphone to make it different than every other smartphone on the market. There are only so many cores you can add to the processor to make it faster, so much memory you can add for apps, and so many megapixels you can add for better pictures. The HTC Rezound from Verizon Wireless finds another way to stand out by offering a better audio experience with their Beats Audio technology and included Monster Beats Audio headphones. Let’s see if it improves your music listening experience while still performing well as a phone. [click to continue…]

I’ve seen magnetic paint and chalkboard paint, but I’ve never seen conductive paint before. Bare Conductive makes conductive paint that allows you to paint electrical circuits anywhere: floor, ceiling, clothing, walls – anywhere but skin. The paint is water-based, non-toxic, and air-dryable. Once dried, it becomes the circuit. You can paint over it so it blends in with the surface it’s painted on, and you can even paint another layer of conductive paint on top without interfering with the previous circuit. Check out the Bare Conductive website for ideas, and go to ThinkGeek to purchase some Bare Paint Conductive Paint for $29.99.

As an amateur photographer, I always like carrying around my DSLR camera everywhere I go. At first I used the strap that came with the camera, but that wasn’t comfortable and the strap always got in the way when I lifted the camera up. Then I changed to a sling type strap, but I didn’t like the camera swinging around the hip area since it felt like it was going to swing into something. That’s when I saw a Kickstarter project for the Capture Camera Clip System made by Peak Design. [click to continue…]

It’s not really a pencil and it’s not really a pen. The Beta Inkless Pen designed by Axel Weinbrecht, is a writing tool with a tiny metal tip made of lead that unlike regular lead pencils, will not wear down with use. It lays down a grey line that doesn’t smudge or erase and can be used in any temperature or weather. You can get one of your own for $27.95 at Jac Zagoory.

When it comes to being able to duplicate hard drives efficiently StarTech has been on the cutting edge of that technology. I was recently given the opportunity to review StarTech’s new 1:3 Standalone SATA/IDE Hard Drive Duplicator Dock. This dock is perfect for anyone who has the need to duplicate one hard drive onto 3 other hard drives simultaneously. This dock is perfect if you are needing to make 3 exact copies of one hard drive without the need of a separate computer connection. I have not had many times when I have needed to make a copy of a hard drive on 3 others, but I can see where this dock can be handy, especially for computer repair or computer retail shops to make exact copies of hard drives for backup purposes or upgrades. I enjoy listening to motivational music while working out. But due to the intensity of my fitness routine at the gym or while pounding pavement, I am very tough/rough on my earbuds. I have trashed many a pair over the decades. Not through abuse or neglect, but by sweating in and on them too much. (I know, TMI). Monster has developed a pair of relatively high-end earbuds specifically engineered to withstand this abuse; the iSport Immersion In-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk. They are so extreme (and waterproof), they advertise you can even put them through the washing machine (as most of you know, typically the sure kiss of death). So, I was excited to give them a good thorough run for their money
